Wow, what a game! LSU broke the 10 year stretch of Tiger Bowl Home field advantage by defeating Auburn in Jordan-Hare Stadium.
Redshirt freshman quarterback Jarrett
Lee came off the bench to lead the No. 6 LSU Tigers to their first
victory at Auburn in 10 years and one day, 26-21, on a wild Saturday
night on the Plains. Runningback Charles Scott solidified his place among the SEC's best backs with a 21-carry, 132-yard performance.Lou Holtz and Lee Corso picked it wrong. LSU wins.
Hey Columbus, Georga friends.... Geaux Tigers! Auburn and LSU is always a great game...great rivalry. Never will forget 1999 when Tommy Tuberville and team lite up cigars after a Baton Rouge victory ..and thus began the current rivalry. Then there was the barn buNot sure what they are going to label this game, but I'm just glad to be on the winning side.
Arnold “Red” Auerbach once proclaimed, “The Boston Celtics are not a basketball team, they are a way of
life.” Tonight, the Celtics clinched their 17th NBA Title in the Banknorth Garden embarrassing the Lakers with a final score of 131 to 92. Even Kobe, Gasol or Jack Nicholas himself couldn't deny a room full of Bostonians winning moment in one of the most lop-sided playoff scores in NBA history
Boston's 'big three' of Kevin Garnett, Paul Pierce and Ray Allen
stepped up on their home court to lead their side to the huge win -
Garnett and Allen scoring 26 points apiece and Pierce with 17 points
and 10 assists.Kevin Garnett was obviously speechless at game en interviews. Garnett and former Celtic Bill Russell embraced and celebrated as fans stormed the courts in Boston. Paul Pierce received the final MPV for the playoff series. Ray Allen was on tonight with 36 points including 7 3 pointers which ties the record. .Awesome team.
I'm sure you've heard the news this past weekend about the release of Ryan Perrilloux,
LSU's starting quarterback for
2008. From what I'm hearing, this departure will not affect LSU.
There are two red-shirt freshmen who are doing well in spring
practice.
Coaches are liking Jarrett Lee, a freshman from Brenham, Texas. Lee was a
class 5-A All-state quarterback and had
scholarship offers from many football powerhouse programs. Lee is a
6'2", 190 red-shirt freshman who is very smart and knows the playbook
forwards and backwards.
The other guy who is doing very well in practice and giving Lee a run
for his money is Andrew Hatch who is a 6'3", 214 junior from Henderson,
Nevada (by way of Harvard) with a strong arm and great foot speed. Lee
and Hatch both have some similarities to Matt Mauck and Matt Flynn, and
LSU won national titles with Mauck and Flynn in their senior seasons at
LSU.

Perrilloux was the Gatorade and Parade Magazine player of the year his
senior season at East St John High School and was the No. 1 recruit in
the nation. Perrilloux committed to The University of Texas and changed
his commitment to LSU after Les Miles was hired to replace Nick Saban.
Ryan Perrilloux was
thought to be the best high school quarterback recruit for LSU. He probably would have made All-American at LSU if had he stayed out of
trouble.
LSU faithful brave chill to celebrate Champions. LSU fans cheer Saturday as the 2007 national championship flag is
hoisted in the northeast side of the end zone at Tiger Stadium. The crowd roared early and often, from the first introductions until
after the raising of a new national championship flag atop the north
rim of the stadium. There it will join flags from the 1958 and 2003
seasons.
LSU replaced the traditional eye of the tiger at midfield with a BCS
championship logo that featured a modified eye, inside a white
football, and a fleur-de-lis.
Players jogged one-by-one onto the field from the tunnel as they were introduced. Dorsey was last, carrying a purple flag with the new
championship
logo.
Gov. Bobby Jindal, holding his son behind the lectern, applauded the Tigers.
“I
want to congratulate coach Miles and his players,” Jindal said. “This
is a team that never gave up. They didn’t care what anybody said about
them. They didn’t care if they were winning or losing. They gave their
best efforts on the field and off the field. They showed the nation
that Louisiana is No. 1 in the entire country.”
What an awesome season for the LSU Tigers. As I watched LSU dismantle the Big 10's best, I was
impressed with Matt Flynn. For the last four years, Flynn thought about transferring to another school to be THE quarterback. It was a game of waiting and patience.
First he waited behind Matt Mauck. Later is was JaMarcus Russel. Both players would eventually win the SEC championships for LSU and go on to become NFL draft pics.
More than once during his
four years at LSU, Matt Flynn thought of transferring to another school
so that he could become a starting quarterback.
"Sure you think about it
[transferring]," Flynn said. "If you're a football player, you want to
get on the field. I stayed because I thought if I kept at it, something
good was going to happen."
On Monday night, something good DID happen for Flynn in the Louisiana Superdome. The Tyler Texas native made his only season as a starter unforgetable in his senior year. Flynn lead his LSU team from an early 10-0 deficit to a 31-10 lead to defeat No. 1 Ohio State 38-24 for the 2007 BCS National Championship.
Flynn threw a career-high four touchdown passes against the nation's
No. 1 defense and was named the game's most outstanding offensive
player.
"This is just a dream come true," Flynn said after the game. "I
never dreamed something like this could happen. I feel extremely
blessed to have this last year and to be a part of this team. This just
feels incredible."
