I am learning so much from my son. He experiences life through innocent, untainted eyes. His reaction to the familiar prompts me to deeply evaluate how I approach life and how I relate to God.
Have we lost a sense of awe in appearing before God? Visit most churches on Sunday and you will likely find people relating to a God that matches their doctrinal beliefs, social crusades, and spiritual experience preference. Absent is a sense of awe!
We promote the aspect of God, our friend. Yes, He is our friend. But we work so hard to connect people to the friend God that we loose the awe of God.
In this world of fast-food, wi-fi, and IM, we fail to deal with God's silence when information is exploding all around us. We have been born and bred to revere individualism more than revere God.
Oh how I want to avoid re-defining God in my image and find more awe in Him.
