I was wondering about the origin of this thing called a Tooth Fairy. Evidently, this myth has been around since the 18th Century and is still shared with children in Australia, Canada, England, Germany, Ireland, Italy, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Portugal, South Africa and the United States.
Funny thing: in all the other countries, they have a Tooth Mouse. USA has a Fairy. What's up with that?
