Tragedy struck Wednesday night during the opening performance of a nativity play at Crossroads Community Church. Twenty-two-year-old Keri Shyrock died Thursday morning from injuries sustained when she fell head first about 20 feet in front of a large audience, including many children.
Shryock, 23, of Sylvania, Ohio, joined the non-denominational megachurch in August. She was performing an aerial acrobatics routine with two other actors on the opening night of the production “Awaited,” a contemporary retelling of the Christmas story, when suddenly she plummeted from the rope into an aisle. She died this morning at University hospital.
Those who knew her described Keri Shryock as one of those truly nice people who was always smiling, always happy, and always eager to help out at the church she loved.
“We’re all saddened by this and will keep everyone in our prayers.”
The university’s campus ministry is working on a possible prayer service but definite plans have not been announced.
Crossroads Church is non-denominational and draws about 10,000 people each weekend to its four services.
