What an awesome season for the LSU Tigers. As I watched LSU dismantle the Big 10's best, I was
impressed with Matt Flynn. For the last four years, Flynn thought about transferring to another school to be THE quarterback. It was a game of waiting and patience.
First he waited behind Matt Mauck. Later is was JaMarcus Russel. Both players would eventually win the SEC championships for LSU and go on to become NFL draft pics. More than once during his
four years at LSU, Matt Flynn thought of transferring to another school
so that he could become a starting quarterback. On Monday night, something good DID happen for Flynn in the Louisiana Superdome. The Tyler Texas native made his only season as a starter unforgetable in his senior year. Flynn lead his LSU team from an early 10-0 deficit to a 31-10 lead to defeat No. 1 Ohio State 38-24 for the 2007 BCS National Championship. Flynn threw a career-high four touchdown passes against the nation's
No. 1 defense and was named the game's most outstanding offensive
player.
"This is just a dream come true," Flynn said after the game. "I
never dreamed something like this could happen. I feel extremely
blessed to have this last year and to be a part of this team. This just
feels incredible."
"Sure you think about it
[transferring]," Flynn said. "If you're a football player, you want to
get on the field. I stayed because I thought if I kept at it, something
good was going to happen."
This is awesome!
