LSU faithful brave chill to celebrate Champions.
LSU fans cheer Saturday as the 2007 national championship flag is
hoisted in the northeast side of the end zone at Tiger Stadium. The crowd roared early and often, from the first introductions until
after the raising of a new national championship flag atop the north
rim of the stadium. There it will join flags from the 1958 and 2003
seasons.
LSU replaced the traditional eye of the tiger at midfield with a BCS championship logo that featured a modified eye, inside a white football, and a fleur-de-lis.
Players jogged one-by-one onto the field from the tunnel as they were introduced. Dorsey was last, carrying a purple flag with the new
championship
logo.
Gov. Bobby Jindal, holding his son behind the lectern, applauded the Tigers.
“I want to congratulate coach Miles and his players,” Jindal said. “This is a team that never gave up. They didn’t care what anybody said about them. They didn’t care if they were winning or losing. They gave their best efforts on the field and off the field. They showed the nation that Louisiana is No. 1 in the entire country.”
