Since it was purchased by the United States in 1803, Louisiana has always been a state known for it's share of controversy, corruption, and colorful characters in office.. As the history books re-tell the political stories of my home state, names like Huey P. Long and Edwin Edwards alway rise to the bottom of the glass. I, among many, have always hoped for leaders who would bring real integrity and honesty back to the good people of this Land of Louis. Today, many of us Louisianians have found hope again with the election of Bobby Jindal.
Bobby Jindal was born in Baton Rouge in 1971. His parents were in grad
school there, recent immigrants from the Punjab in northern India. He
was raised Hindu, but converted to Roman Catholicism in his teens. He
went to Louisiana public schools, then Brown University, where he was
an honors student in biology and public policy. A Rhodes Scholar, he
was admitted to the medical and law schools of both Harvard and
Yale—but chose Oxford instead.
It was 1994. He was 23 years old. The whole bright world of Europe was
open before him. He had a prestigious consulting job waiting in D.C.
But Bobby Jindal was looking back toward home.

History books are still to write Jindal's story. I'm confident that his leadership will fair well for the people of Louisiana if the existing political machine follows his lead.
1971 was a good year.
I love BJ. I've never seen someone so "on his toes" in a debate format. He is true integrity through and through.
