Blog Slacker

Yep, I've been a Blog Slacker.  It isn't that there hasn't been a void of things to blog about.  It's just difficult to blog when you don't have a floor. Floors are a basic requirement to blog.  Our whole bottom floor was redone this month and we had no idea of the disruption it would cause.  I think I can re-enter the blog world now. 

New Meeting Place

The Flower Mound / Highland Village area is booming with growth.  Hundreds of shops, restaurants, and destination places are going up with style.  Even the McDonald's is done up in Austin Stone.  Mickey D's has pretty good coffee.  My boss thinks is the best in the west.  I prefer Starbucks.  I'm not too thrilled with meeting in McDonald's even with classy decor. 

But, right across the street from Ronald's place may be our new meeting place.  Corner Bakery is opening in a week or two and the coffee is much better in my opinion.  The Highland Village Town Center is about to open with many new shops and places to dine; just one of many new centers in our area.  Pretty cool.  Now, I have to sell my boss on the new coffee. 

Moving Again?

We're having new floors installed in our house.  It's part of the package deal with the house.  Needs new floors.  Our previous owners were found of cats...A nice house warming gift that has lingered for the past 2 months.  I guess we didn't realize that we literally would be moving out of the 1st floor to make this happen. 

Karate Kid

Last night Eli began a Karate class at his elementary school.  He is very excited about the karate.  It will be a good exercise in discipline.  It was hilarious to watch the first-timers attempt to do 10 sit ups and 10 push ups.  Looks like I'll have to show the boy how.  And yes, I can still muster at least 10 of each. 

Poison

It topples governments,
wrecks marriages,
ruins careers,
busts reputations,
causes heartaches,
          nightmares,
          indigestion,
spawns suspicion,
generates grief,
dispatches innocent people to cry in their pilows.

Even its names hisses.  It's called gossip.  Office gossip.  Shop gossip.  Party gossip.
It makes headlines and headaches.

Before you repeat a story, ask yourself:
Is it true?
Is it fair?
Is it necessary?

If not, shut up!

The Space Between The Notes

Silence speaks volumes.  There is a practice in music of hearing the space between the notes.  It's just as important as hearing the notes themselves.  When there is a focus on the space and silence the sound actually sounds bigger.  Less can be more.  Ironically, it is in this discipline that the silence and space communicate as much as the sound.

Likewise, we should spend as much time listening to God as we do talking to Him.

Cereal for the Blogger

I'm back in the blog mode. 
Last Sunday was VCC's 15th anniversary and the kick-off of Imagine.
Blogging took a back seat.  I've had my bloggios and back in action.

Football Saturday

I love this time of year.  Football Saturday.  ESPN's College GameDay was in Baton Rouge at LSU with the familiar Memorial Tower in the background.

To most Tiger Fans surprise, all the pundits are talking up LSU.  Typically, Herbsteit, Holtz and everyone in between fails to give LSU and the SEC due recognition.  It's almost scary to get so much support. Don't forget the Florida game last year.  LSU is favored by 12.  I think that is too high.  I predict this to be a close one.  I hope the Tigers come out strong tonight against VT.  The game is after 8pm so it will be a late night.

IPHONE: Will It Blend?

With news of the new IPhone prices, now is the time to blend.

LSU Host ESPN GameDay this Weekend

It looks like ESPN has announced their Gameday will be in Baton Rouge this week.  I'll have to watch to see which mascot head Lee Corso puts on.   I am still not a fan of Kirk Herbstreit and his general love affair with USC and ND.  Chris Fowler brings a level head to the crew. 

College GameDay will highlight No. 2-ranked Tigers home football opener Saturday against No. 9-ranked Virginia Tech during their 9 a.m. pregame broadcast on the LSU Parade Grounds.  The Virginia Tech-LSU game will be televised by ESPN beginning at 8:15 p.m. On the call will be Brent Musburger, Herbstreit and Lisa Salters, the Saturday Night Football team for ABC games.
